Mary C. (Wilson) Rhykerd, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on November 5, 2020 at the age of 91. She was born in Newport, PA, December 8, 1928 to Paul A. and Pearl (Baker) Wilson.
She graduated from Newport High School and Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing as a RN. She nursed at Harrisburg Hospital and retired from Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, as charge nurse in the Neonatal and Newborn Nursery.
She was past member and officer of the Susquehanna Wagoneers Traveling Club, Towpath Court Order of Amaranth #138 Newport, Devotional and Junior leader of the Perry County Christian Endeavor and The United Church of Christ, Newport, President of the Ecumenical Church Women's Association of Newport, served on the worship committee and Women's Association of Chapel Hill UCC Camp Hill, member of the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church- Silver Springers Circle and helped with the church fall fair.
She was the widow of Guy E. Rhykerd and is survived by sons, Don E. Rhykerd and wife Susan E. of Enola and Ted D. Rhykerd and wife Susan J. of Mechanicsburg, grandchildren, Brian and wife Amy of Camp Hill, Melanie Rhykerd of Harrisburg and Michael Rhykerd and wife Sarah of Klingerstown, step-grandson, Joshua Sheaffer and wife Jessica of Hummelstown, and sister in law, Bernice Wilson of Warminster, PA. and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by brother, Paul A. Wilson, Jr.
Services will be held Sunday, November 8 from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing from 1 PM until the funeral services at 2 PM with the Pastor Mary Kay Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery.
