Ruth Cox McMillen, 92, of Moravian Manor, Lititz, and formerly of Ickesburg, passed away on January 25, 2019. She was born at home, March 4, 1926 to Henry and Lizzie Lebo Cox in Susquehanna Twp., Juniata County and was the widow of Perry L. McMillen who died January 29, 1994. Perry and Ruth were married by brother-in-law, Rev. George Leukel II, who was also past minister at Centre Presbyterian Church.
Ruth graduated from Marysville High School and also Cosmetology School. She was a member of Centre Presbyterian Church, Loysville; sang alto in the choir for many years, was a past member of Ickesburg Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. For over thirty years she owned and operated Ruth McMillen’s Beauty Shoppe, in her home, and retired from that occupation. She loved to create new hairstyles, read, sing, crochet, play the piano, and sketch. She was predeceased by her brother, Waldron Cox; sisters, Sara Jane Cox, Kathryn Keller, and Walteretta Bordner.
Surviving are her daughters; Perrietta Shanaman, husband Ray, Richland; Polly Eby, husband Gary, New Bloomfield; Pam Early, husband Mark, Mt. Joy; and Phyllis Rittel, husband Randy, Lancaster, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Both visitation and service will be held at Centre Presbyterian Church, 3912 Freeman Hollow Rd, Loysville, Monday, February 4, 2019 with the Rev. Heather Sigler officiating. Visitation will be at 10am, followed by the service at 11am. Interment will be in the Centre Presbyterian Cemetery.
