Albert William (Bill) Ramer, 71, of Newport, died Thursday, Oct.24, 2019. He was born April 10, 1948 to the late John and Bonnie (Briner) Ramer.
He was a 1966 graduate of West Perry HS and received a Bachelor of Science from Mt. Saint Mary's College in 1970. From there, he attended
flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama, ascended through the ranks in the Army National Guard and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2008. Bill
also served in Bosnia-Herzegovina from March through December, 1997.
Over the years he has served on the Oliver Township Municipal Authority Board (25 years) as well as CEDA-COG Board. He was also instrumental in establishing the Perry County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
Bill is survived by his wife Marcia (Shearer) Ramer, daughter Amanda (John) McCann, daughter Megan (Chase) Patterson and daughter Jessica Smith; 7 grandchildren Tucker and Lillian Smith, Tenley and Rylin Patterson and Delaney, Mollee and Maura McCann. He is also survived by his sister Bonnie (Larry) Casebeer.
Visitation will take place on Monday, Nov. 4th from 10-11 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Bloomfield, PA. A Memorial Mass will take place immediately following. Burial, with military honors, will take place at Bloomfield Cemetery
