Kenneth L. Wiles, 71, formerly of Perry County, passed away November 30, 2019. He was born September 10, 1948 to the late Leroy and Ida (Comp) Wiles. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1967-1970, and awarded several purple hearts for his service in the Vietnam War. He loved the outdoors, hunting, playing cards and racing. He worked several places over the years- the state, Book of the Month, construction sites, Farm Show, farm work, and had a small business of his own. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy E. Philips in 1993. He came from a family of eight siblings, and is survived by his sisters, Mary Fisher, and Janet Gutshall (Jay); brothers, John Wiles (Linda), Rex Cassell (Kim), Karl, and Donald. He was preceded in death by sister, Karen Boose in 2005 and a stillborn brother.
He was a very good hearted, generous man and will be missed. He loved his family and the many friends he made over the years.
Services will be held Monday, December 9 from the Newport First Church of God, 334 S. 5th St, Newport with a viewing from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Trevor Lightner officiating. Fellowship will follow in the church social hall. Burial will military honors will be at 2:30 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Shriners Hospital or charity of choice.
