Connie L. Bitting, 76 years old, passed away peacefully at her home in Newport  on Thursday,  July 14, 2016. She was born November 9, 1939 in Lewistown to Charles and Elsie (Campbell) May. 
  Connie was retired from Penn National Insurance and owner  of Bittings Inc. in Newport. She was a member of the Millerstown Moose and Newport Fire Company Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed bowling, spending time with her classmates  of the class of 1957 from Susquenita High School, talking with special friends about "Days of Our Lives" soap opera, playing the lottery and casino games,  and eating ice cream. Although, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest joy.
  Connie was the widow of Ivan B. "Sam" Bitting and is survived by her son, Charles H. Bitting and wife Venetia of Newport; daughters, Kaye Y. Bitting and fiance Glenn Clouser of Newport and Michelle L. Bitting and companion Tim Barbush of Newport; sister, Vicki Unger of Summerdale; grandchildren, Jason Bitting and fiance Jen, Ryan Bitting and wife Taryn, Alisha Bitting and fiance Rick, Zachary Zeigler and companion Susie and Nicole Zeigler;  great grandchildren, Tianna, Mason, Alayna, Madison and Riley May; sister in laws Janice Howell and Linda Bitting of Newport and brother in law Park Bitting of Freeburg.
  Services will be held from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednsday with a viewing from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Newport Fire Company, Mulberry Street, Newport, PA. 1774 or Newport Ambulance League, 50 South Third Street, Newport, Pa. 17074.
