Sarah D. (Sally) Hall 91, of Millerstown, PA passed away peacefully, at her home, Thursday, December 1, 2016, after a brief illness with her grand-son Fred and wife Christy by her side.
Sally was born on March 25, 1925, to Roscoe and Maggie (DeLancey) Chubb, in Millerstown, PA. She is the sister of Louise Cameron and the sister of the late Laura Wilt and late Elva Boyer.
She was a 1943 graduate of Millerstown High School where she was a drummer in the band and played the piano. Upon graduation, she worked briefly for the Millerstown Phone Exchange and then The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. She retired as a Secretary from the Greenwood School District in 1993, with 35 years of service.
Sally was married to the late John Allen Hall, founder of Hall's Ice Cream, for 62 years.
She was a member of Highland United Presbyterian Church, Newport, where she was the church organist for many years, former treasurer of the Women's Guild, and helped with many of the church fundraising suppers. Sally was a member of Perry Chapter #459, Order of the Eastern Star, Perry Historians, former Millerstown Civic Club, and an avid supporter of her grand-daughter Marel's dairy bowl competitions, traveling along to several states with her other grand children.
Sally loved to cook and bake, especially her well known sugar and ginger cookies. She enjoyed giving them to friends, family and selling them for fundraisers for organizations. She also enjoyed knitting hats and sweaters for family and friends and other gifts for babies.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Raub and husband Keith, grand-daughter Marel King and husband Jason. Son Allen and wife Jeri, grandson Frederick and wife Christy, greatgrandsons Caleb and Landon, grand-daughter Heather Sheaffer and husband Brent, great-granddaughter Sarah, and great-grandson Neil, step-grandson Patrick McIntyre and his wife Nikki, step-great-grand-daughters Taylor and Ashton, and step- grand-daughter Erin Coxeter and husband Lossing and step- great-grand-daughter Lydia.
Services will be held from Highland United Presbyterian Church, Newport, PA with a viewing from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown, PA.
