Edith A. Noll, age 85, of Newport, peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2017 at her home. Born September 2, 1931 in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Blanche (Billow) Shaffer. Edith retired from PA Department of Agriculture. Edith was a life member of the Bucks United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years. She was a devout Christian who exemplified serving the Lord. She was a member of the Bucks Ladies Aid and Bucks Quilters where she enjoyed making quilts and lap robes for local shut-ins as well as missions throughout the world. Edith was an original member of the Bucks Valley Community Center. She was a member of the Church Women's United and a member of the Rebekak Lodge in New Bloomfield for 60 years, where she served as Noble Grand. Edith was very active in her community and enjoyed volunteering at the Perry County Fair. Edith was an amazing baker, a local documentarian, and honorary Grandmother to many. Edith will be missed by many people who were lucky enough to know and love her, including her constant and finicky companion, Lucy, the amazing Cat.
Surviving is her son, David E. Noll, wife Elizabeth, grandsons; Darian and Vaughn of Gig Harbor, Wash. Edith was preceded in death by her husband John R. Noll, sister, Martha Rice and brother in law, Harry Rice.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Bucks United Methodist Church with a viewing starting at 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00. Joseph Dorman, Lay Speaker for Buck's Church will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. All are invited to a light luncheon at the Buck's Valley Community Center immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Buck's UMC in memory of Edith, c/o Tina Wright, 131 Limekiln Road, Newport, Pa. 17074.
