  Ronald L. Brookhart, 67 years old, passed away unexpectedly Saturday September 16, 2017 at his home in Liverpool. He was born January 27, 1950 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Ralph and Mary (Criley) Brookhart. He was retired from UPS after almost 41 years of service, with most of those years being as a truck driver, and was also a member of Teamsters Local 776. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, class of 1968, and also of Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster where he studied Electronics. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Newport. He had a love for animals, working outside, and also reading, especially local history. He also loved covered bridges, traveling the roads of Perry County, and spending time with his granddaughter.
  Ron is survived by his wife of 38 years, Virginia (Taylor) Brookhart; sons Christopher A. Brookhart of Enola and Kevin E. Brookhart and wife Dani of Newport; granddaughter, Bailey Brookhart; brothers, Harold and Alton Brookhart of Millerstown; sisters, Evelyn Miller of Duncannon and Mary Kay Mather of Newport; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Raymond, Kenneth and Glenn Brookhart and sister Caroline Willow.  
  Services will be held on Saturday from the Highland Presbyterian Church, 11 Church Road, Newport with a viewing from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM with Reverend Cheryl Dorman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery, Millerstown.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Historical Society of Perry County, P.O. Box 81, Newport, Pa. 17074 or Furry Friends Network, P.O. Box 519, Boiling Springs, Pa. 17007.
