John Allen Waldron (64) of Newport, Perry County, formerly of
Lansdowne, PA was born on September 24, 1955. He passed peacefully of
natural causes on June 12, 2020.
Born in York County to John Richard (Dick) and Mary Elizabeth (née Reed)
Waldron, John was a graduate of Kennard-Dale High School class of ’73,
Fawn Grove, PA and attended Temple University, PA.
He worked for the R.C. Diocese of Philadelphia, PA as an IT
analyst/programmer 1992-1996 and for the Gift of Life Donor Program
from 1997 until his retirement in 2015 as a senior software developer.
He will be remembered as “Brother John”, “Big John”, and “Sasquatch” to
all his many friends and acquaintances. John was a member of the Sons of
the American Legion Post # 177. He was a talented musician and artist.
Forever amazed by life (and quantum physics) he had a zest for living that
was inspiring. His brilliant mind often led to projects, current topics of
interest, politics, and the expounding on them (Ad infinitum). He was a
lifelong “Deadhead.” All will remember his ready smile. He will be dearly
missed and will forever be in the hearts of those that had the joy of knowing
him.
He is survived by his mother Mary Elizabeth Waldron, sister Eydie Lynne
Wight, her husband (and John’s good friend) Sammy Wight, nephew Roger
Cowden and girlfriend Katelyn Overland, niece Melody Wight and
significant other Aaron Weale, and nephew Zachary Wight, wife Molly, and
grand niece Teagan Wight, and the Adey/Cowden extended family in
Michigan City, IN especially including his treasured grand nephew David J.
Adey. John is also survived by his beloved furry felines Stella Blue and
Annie Beauneu.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Kathy E. Greenwood
and by his father Dick.
