She was raised and went to school in Old Ferry, and Newport. After graduation she married her childhood sweetheart, James McGowan of Millerstown. Due to his military career, they lived many places in the U.S. and Germany, before retiring home to PA.
Both Patty and Jim enjoyed people, especially family and children even more especially. She worked briefly for Newberry's in 1944, Snap on Pliers in 1945-46 and for Shifers in 1971-73. Her main priority was raising her children.
