BLAIN – Mary Louise Smith, 89, of Blain went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2020 in
Cumberland Crossings Nursing Home. Mary, or as most referred to her as Louise, was born August 2,
1931 in Madison Township, Perry County to the late Frank A. &  Mary E. (Early) Metz. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Harold M. Smith, her son, Philip M. Smith, her granddaughter, Shannon E.
Lehman, her brothers, Dean Metz and Gene Metz and her sisters, Doris Holtry and Wanda McAlicher.
She was a homemaker, raising their six children and working on their farm. She enjoyed puzzles, playing
cards and watching the many colorful birds of the seasons. The highlight of her life was her family
whether it was Sunday dinners or random family get-togethers; as long as she was surrounded by her
family she was in her glory.
She was a member of the Blain Ambulance Association and the Ladies Auxiliary. In her earlier years, she
attended the Sandy Hill United Church of Christ, Loysville, where she enjoyed fellowship.
Surviving are her five children, William A. Smith & wife Darlene, Blain; Cathy L. Rudy & husband
Clarence, Loysville; Amanda L. Kerstetter & husband Lawrence, Elliottsburg; Brad A. Smith & wife
Tammy, Blain; Jill N. Lovett & husband Brian, Carlisle; a daughter-in-law, Kim J Smith, Landisburg; 13
grandchildren & 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Noon on Friday, September 25, 2020 at David M. Myers Funeral Home, 125
Walnut Street, Newport with Pastor Richard Black officiating. Viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to
12:00 PM  prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the
service in the Blain Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blain Ambulance Association, Blain, PA 17006.
