Ira Dice "Butch" Hood III, 66 years old, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, at his home in Millerstown. He was born August 11, 1955, to the late Ira Dice and Beverly (Harris) Hood, Jr.
He attended Greenwood High School. He had worked for Charles H. Burns Inc and Rite-Aid. He was a member of the Millerstown Moose. He loved being out in nature from fishing to hunting, as well as helping with all sports and boy scouts his son was involved in. He had a love of racing from dirt track to NASCAR. Butch was preceded in death by his wife, Tracy Bassler Hood. He is survived by his son Michael (Christina) of West York, grandchildren Isaiah (Ashley) of York, Tyneayia, Talyra and Mylra of West York and his great grandchildren Grayson and Haiden of York. He is also survived by his brother Gary Hood of Millerstown, sisters Debra (Phillip) Coombs of Camp Hill , Brenda (Charles (Tim)) Kemble of Florida and Jeanne (Sean) Goe of Delaware, his aunt Beverly Hood of Mifflintown and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his four-legged son Sammie Lee Hood. As per Butch's wishes, there will be no formal viewing or funeral. A celebration of life will be held with a small gathering of friends and family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
