Ray C. Dillman, 89 years old, of New Bloomfield, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019. He was born July 19, 1929 in Lancaster to Jess and Florence (Stambaugh) Dillman. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and was retired from the Railroad, Enola Diesel Shop with more than forty-one years of service. Ray was a member of the New Bloomfield VFW #7463, Newport American Legion #177, Adams Lodge #313, Harrisburg Consistory, Juniata Valley Tall Cedars, New Bloomfield Fire Company, Firemens Club and Sportsmens Club.
He was a big game hunter, having hunted all over the world. Farming was a favorite past time. Ray was an avid baseball player, umpire, and was selected by the St Louis Cardinals. He was a passionate New England Patriot fan, holding high regards for Tom Brady.
Ray is survived by his wife, Ruth (Leiter) Dillman; son, Ray Charles Dillman, Jr. and wife, Glenda of New Bloomfield; daughter, Rhonda Smith and husband, Dereick of Newport; grandchildren, Bradford Dillman (Jennifer), Rachel Frerotte (Logan), Nicholas Dillman (Veronica), Cheyenne Fetterhoff, Larissa Chaplain (Aaron), Chloe Smith and Ganon Smith and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sara Jean Dillman and June Helen Paul.
Services will be held from the Highland Presbyterian Church, 11 Church Road, Newport with a viewing Monday, May 20 from 5-7 PM and Tuesday, May 21 from 10-11 AM followed by the funeral service at 11 AM with Reverend George Martz and Reverend Nancy McClure officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery with military honors by the Perry County Military Honor Guard.
