     Craig D. Shirk, 53, of Shermans Dale, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Penn State Hershey Medical Center following a fall at home on December 27 resulting in a severe head injury. He was born September 15, 1964 in Florida. Craig was a stroke survivor of five years but made the most of his handicap. He is the son of Donald and Beverly (Flickinger) Shirk with whom he resided and is also survived by his brother Todd, wife Christine  their children Katlin and Kendal of Shermans Dale and a large extended family.

  Craig was a 1983 West Perry graduate, an Eagle Scout and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in New Bloomfield. He attended Indiana Tech University in Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Purdue University (Ft. Wayne campus). He loved football and participated in a Fantasy League with his friends. He competed on a local and national level  in Darting winning numerous trophies. Before his stroke, his work carried him all over the world with his favorite countries being Thailand, China and Australia but also worked in many other countries of the world.
  Craig was a caring and kind person and helped many of his friends  unselfishly and will be greatly missed.
  Services will be held Saturday from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing from 11 AM until the funeral service at 12 PM with the Reverend Linda Shank officiating. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown.
  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pa. Wounded Warriors Project, 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, Pa. 17011 or Penn State Miracle Network for Children, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, Pa. 17033.
