Joseph W. Kresge
April 10, 1938 - December 10, 2020
Joe Kresge passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home
December 10, 2020. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was the son of the
late William and Elizabeth Bretz Kresge. He is predeceased in death by
his son, Joey Kresge and a sister Helen Kresge Klinger. Joe’s lineage can
be traced back to German pioneer families who settled in Pennsylvania
in the 1740s, and one of the first families in what is now Perry County.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anita B. Kresge, a sister, Jean
Kresge of Harrisburg and three daughters: Kimberly Lawrence
(Edwardsburg, MI), Lori Kresge (Clinton, IN) and Susan Kresge (Howe
IN). The grandchildren are Christopher Bohanan, Bobbi Peachy, Lily
Lawrence, Angel Hollingsworth, Kristin Wallace, Shania McClintock and
Brandon Kresge, all of Indiana. Seven great grandchildren survive also.
After high school, Joe served for twenty-one years from 1958 to 1979
as a radar specialist in the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Air Force. From
1980 until retirement in 1997, AMP, Inc. employed Joe as a metrologist
In 2000, Anita and he moved to Perry County where Joe joined the
Newport Masons, the Royal Arch #238 and the Newport-Tennis Lodge
#381. He was a member of the American Legion, the Newport
Revitalization and Preservation Society and a life member of the Perry
Historians. His interests were studying Perry County history, his family
genealogy and exploring the Juniata River in his Hovercraft.
Due to the Covid-19, there will be no service. Interment will be at Ft.
Indian Town Gap Cemetery, December 21 st , 1 pm, attendance restricted
to 25 persons. A Celebration of life will be held on his birthday, thesecond Saturday in April 2021, when hopefully the pandemic haspassed. Location to be announced later.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to theIncarnation UCC of Newport, P.O. Box 68 or St. Jude’s Children’sResearch Hospital, Memphis, TN.

We are very sorry for the loss of our dear friend Joe. We will always remember Joe for his quick wit and playful nature. We were fortunate to have Joe in our lives.
