Dorothy R. Showers Davis, 100 years old, formerly of New Bloomfield, went to heaven on December 15, 2020 at Premier at Perry Village. She was born October 12, 1920 in Myerstown to Chester and Bessie (Lutz) Snyder. She lived a long, full life - surviving two world wars and the Great Depression. She graduated from Ickesburg High School in 1939, was a member of the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Newport American Legion Auxiliary. She and her first husband, Bill, owned a store on Second Street in Newport selling various items such as groceries, radios, tobacco products, and televisions. In addition, she worked for the State for many years, followed by employment at Pomeroy's, which later became The Bon-Ton. In earlier years, Dorothy enjoyed bowling, cooking, and especially spending time with family.
She was the widow of Wilbert Walter "Bill" Showers and Samuel Davis. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis K. Garman of Elliottsburg and Vicki R. Showers of Harrisburg; grandchildren, H. Shane Garman (Joie) and Shawn Tribbitt (Steve); great grandchildren, Taylor and Spencer Garman and great great grandson, Roman Del Rio. She also has surviving brothers and sisters.
