Kermit (Mutt) B. Harry, Jr., of Newport, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 – on
his 81st birthday. Mutt was born in Newport on December 25, 1939. He was the son of
the late Kermit B. and Arlene E. Harry. He is survived by his wife Evelyn E. Harry, their
five children Anna (Israel), Jay (Betsy), Donna (Wayne), Bean (John), and Leah (Jim),
11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, his brother Richard, and his sister Joanne.
He was predeceased by one grandson, Eli Wilbert.
Mutt graduated from Newport High School in 1957 and went on to graduate from
Lycoming College. He was a salesman for HJ Heinz for over 35 years. He was a past
president of the Newport School Board and served on the Board of the First National
Bank of Newport. He was very involved in the renovation of Newport High School and
took pride in giving tours of the new building. He was a past member of the Newport
American Legion, VFW, and the Sure Shot Gun Club in Potter County. He was a
supporter of the Newport Fire Company. Mutt followed Penn State football and Hershey
There will be a celebration of Mutt’s life at a later date. A special thank you to Pastor
Brenizer for the final words and prayer that allowed him to know it was ok to let go.
