Amy M (Miller) Campbell Obituary

Amy Marie Miller Campbell, of Newport, PA, born on August 8, 1956, passed away at
her home on October 30, 2024. The daughter of the late Frederick Miller and Laura
Knuth Miller Steckler, she was the widow of Oscar “Junior” Campbell, Jr.
She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Heather Campbell, parents
of her granddaughters, Violet and Julia, all of Lebanon; her life partner, Gregory Ivory;
her siblings, Robert Miller and Albert (Kathy) Miller of Newport; Sharon (John) Brodisch
of Ocracoke, NC and Newport; Jill (Craig) Seaman of Newport; Betsy (Mike) Webb of
Carlisle; “foster” brother Donald (Tammy) Longsderff of Mount Joy; two best friends who
were more like sisters, Brenda Mastracchio and Patti Johnson-Stailey both of Newport;
her stepfather, Ted Sheaffer of Daytona Beach, FL; her trusty canine companion, Ricky;
and 29 nieces and nephews whom she shared with Junior many of whom called her
“Aunt Mame”.
Following her graduation from Newport High School in 1974, Amy’s working career
began as a seamstress at the Eileen Hope Dress Factory in Newport. When they
closed their doors, she began working as the donut maker at the Newport Weis Market
where she continued to work and progress for over 25 years. One of her favorite
“duties” was handing out free cookies to the many children who accompanied their
parents to the store. She enjoyed watching them grow over the years.
Her hobbies included being a skilled seamstress who could tailor a prom or wedding
dress to make the proper fit and crocheting beautiful afghans and perfect dishcloths that
she gifted to friends and family. She was also a wonderful event planner and helped
many over the years with weddings and hosted many great parties at her own home.
After leaving the Weis Market, Amy joined her sister, Sharon, on the island of Ocracoke
in the Outer Banks of NC to work at The Cove Bed and Breakfast. Amy was in her
element there, using her creativity in her cooking, baking, decorating skills, and
connecting with the guests. She was also happily involved with costuming for the cast of
“A Tale of Blackbeard” for a few seasons. She met and became great friends with
several people during her time on Ocracoke.
As a member of Bucks United Methodist Church, her minister, Rev. Gregory Myers, will
preside over her Celebration of Life to be held on Wednesday, November 6 at the
Newport Fire Hall, 301 Mulberry Street, Newport. Her family invites you to join them for
a time of visitation which begins at 10:00 AM and will continue until the memorial
service begins at noon. A luncheon will be provided by the Bucks Valley Ladies Aid –
all of whom were her friends. Please wear one of her favorite colors – green, turquoise
or white.
Interment will be at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be
made to Bucks Valley Ladies Aid, c/o Gloria Barrick, 528 Bucks Church Road, Newport,
