Barbara G. Kennedy of Green Park, PA passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 87.
Barbara was born in Bloomsburg, PA to Francis Eleanor Smith (Hartman) and Miles Gaylord
Smith. Most of her childhood was spent in Hatboro, PA. After graduating from Hatboro High
School, Barbara earned an Associate Degree as a medical secretary from Elizabethtown
College. She began her career as a medical secretary at Abbington Hospital. She later married
William Kennedy and moved to Green Park, Pennsylvania where she worked as an
administrative secretary for the Perry County Tax Office and Magisterial District Justice in
Loysville PA, and later as a payroll accountant at the Youth Development Center in Loysville,
PA. She finished her career working in the West Perry Elementary School cafeteria.
Barbara was a caring, thoughtful daughter, aunt, Nana and mother. She was always willing to
help anyone who needed her assistance and was delighted to celebrate the accomplishments of
others. The joy of her life was being a Nana. Barbara was a gifted pianist and loved to sing. She
lived a very happy and productive life.
Barbara was predeceased by her mother, Francis Eleanor Smith (Hartman) and her stepfather
Sidney Traurig. She is survived by her son David and his wife Sue, her beloved grandsons,
Liam and Devon, and her daughter Lisa, as well as cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 70 Limestone Road, Elliottsburg, PA on
Friday, March 14th  from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, March 15th at 10 a.m. with a Service
to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude
Children’s Research Hospital – www.stjude.org - or Messiah Lutheran Church.
