Barry L. Hartzell

BARRY L. HARTZELL, 75, of Shermans Dale, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

He was born on May 26, 1948 in Carlisle, PA the son of the late Chester N. and Beverly A. (Roush) Hartzell. He is survived by his wife, Sandra J. (Miller) Hartzell of Shermans Dale; a daughter, Michelle L. Smith and husband Doug of Millerstown, a son, Shawn C. Hartzell and wife Michele of North East; a brother, Dennis Hartzell & Deb of New Bloomfield; a sister, Sharon Swartz & Mike of Elizabethtown; 6 grandchildren: Zachary Smith (Michaelli), Brandon Hartzell (Bethany), Aaron Smith (Mackenzie), Austin Hartzell, Noah Smith, and Westin Hartzell; 2 great-grandchildren: Hunter & Evelyn Hartzell; a beloved cousin, David Hartzell, Sr. of Duncannon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barry worked as a saw operator for the American Steel & Aluminum Corp. in Middletown, PA for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, welding, and tinkering in his workshop. Barry found great joy and pride in his family, especially cheering on his 6 grandsons in all their endeavors and activities.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 3 PM, at the Family Life Center, 27 W. Shortcut Road, Newport, with Pastor Gary Bellis officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parksinson’s Research at Parkinson.org or to Newport Assembly of God Missions Fund.
