Birtus Richard Dudley, known to his family and friends as “Butch”, of Newport, Howe Township
passed away Wednesday June 14, 2023, in his home, at the age of 79.
He was born October 11, 1943, in Duncannon, to the late Wilbur Clayton Dudley Sr. and Anna
Mae (Miller) Dudley.
Butch enlisted in the United States Army October 17, 1962 and proudly served our country for
six years, prior to his honorable discharge. Afterwards, he was employed as a railroad engineer,
brakeman, and conductor with Steelton & Highspire Railroad until his retirement. Throughout
his life, Butch had great interests in boating, fishing, hunting, woodworking, and all things
automotive.
Butch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Suzanne Elizabeth (Horting) Dudley, daughters, Lorie
Jean (Dudley) Cornick, Annmarie (Dudley) Yohn and husband Larry Gene Yohn, Dara Lee
Bennet and husband Tommy Lee Bennet, and son Richard A Dudley and daughter-in-law Linda
Kay (Fogle) Dudley. He is also survived by sisters, Vonda (Dudley) Debolt and Carol (Dudley)
Bonsall, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth (Dudley) Reed
and brothers, Wilbur Clayton Dudley, Jr. and Kenneth James Dudley, Sr.
His funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Friday, July 07, 2023 at Indiantown Gap National
Cemetery with Pastor Cheryl Dorman, Newport First Church of God, officiating. Interment, with
Military Honors, will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
