Calvin Eugene "Gene" Cohick, 83, of Newport, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. He was born in Liverpool to the late Charles Calvin and Helen Marie (Myers) Cohick..

    Gene attended Greenwood High School. He worked as a mechanic/supervisor for PP&L until his retirement after 23 years of service. After retirement Gene worked at Juniata Concrete, Smith's Tire and Perry Co Transportation. Gene served his community as Newport Borough Councilman and as Mayor. Gene was an Antique car enthusiast and was a member of the National AACA and Hershey Region AACA. Gene was also a member of the Newport Fire Company.

     Gene is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Donna Kerstetter Cohick and a daughter Angela Cohick Miller, both of Newport, grandsons Joshua Miller of Dillsburg and Zachary Miller of Newport and two great granddaughters Rhian Elizabeth and Molly Grace Miller, whom he adored. Also surviving are a sister Patricia Rode  (Al) of Liverpool. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Charles A. Cohick and John Eddie Cohick and sister Shirley Ann Mullen
