Carrie E. Smith, 96 years old, passed away   Tuesday, June 10, 2025,   at her home in Newport. She was born March 29, 1929 in Howe Township, Newport to Herman and Clara Schreiber Kraft. She was married to Paul R. Smith for 53 years until his passing  May 31, 2008.. Carrie is survived by sister-in-law Leora Kraft and nieces Barbara Love and Sue Fitzpatrick. She was preceded in death by her brother Herman Kraft, Jr.

Carrie  had worked at  Perry Farm Bureau, Cumberland Farm Bureau, Zeigler Bros Feed Mill and retired from Smith Lumber. She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Millerstown Moose #425 and Newport Ladies Auxiliary of the Newport Fire Company. She enjoyed playing Aggravation with friends, putting puzzles together and was known as the walnut lady. She will be remembered as a kind and generous friend to family and local organizations.

At Carrie's request, there will be no services.
