Charles Lynn Campbell, 100, peacefully entered into eternal life on December 24, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was born October 1, 1921 in Mannsville, Perry County, PA to the late Charles and Nancy Campbell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Campbell, and a sister, Isabel Maxine Rhoades. He is survived by a niece, three great nieces, and one great nephew.
He retired from the US Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant, having served in three wars, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He flew 61 combat missions in B-17 and B-24 bombers in the South Pacific during World War II. He was awarded numerous medals from his service in World War II including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and South Pacific Air Medal with 6 battle stars. He went into the used car business in Bossier City, LA, specializing in antique and classic vehicles after retiring from the Air Force. He was a magician in his spare time, performing for children in orphanages and handicapped children in hospitals. He was also a notary for many years until he retired from that profession at age 96. He was a member of the Mannsville Lutheran Church, Mannsville, PA.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 8 at Eshcol Cemetery, Millerstown at 11 AM with the Reverend Kevin O'Bryan officiating and military honors by the Perry County Military Honor Guard.
