Charles A Wentz

Charles A Wentz, 77 years old, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at his home in Newport. He was born May 15, 1944 in Millerstown to the late Alvin and Betty (Longacre) Wentz. He was caretaker for 52 years of the Newport Cemetery, a past member of the Perry County Fair Board, and for 30 plus years as a  security guard for Newport School District. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood working. He loved to spoil and support his grandchildren in all of their activities. His special joy was spending time with family and friends  and attending many carnivals, fairs and car shows.
 Charlie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Barkley Wentz; sons, Charles Wentz (Dalene) and Steve Wentz (companion Felicia) of Newport; daughter Cindy McHenry (Robert) of Newport; brother David Wentz of Newport, sisters Delores Wentz and Norma Wentz of Millerstown; sister-in-law Harrietta Wentz of Millerstown; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Julia Weibley and brother James Wentz.
   Services will be held from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing on Wednesday Dec.22 from 5-7 PM and Thursday  Dec. 23 from 10 AM until the funeral at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in the Wila Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to The American Heart Association, Perry County Fair Board, or Grane Hospice.
