Christopher J. Lyter, 52, of Newport, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Hershey Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1969.
After graduation from Lower Dauphin High school, Chris attended Penn State University, Mont Alto Campus and later went to work for Cumberland Distribution then Genco Distribution until his passion took flight as a renowned artist. His art was an attempt to capture moments and feelings especially when words were inadequate. He loved nature, woodworking, the Eagles, a good IPA and long, deep meaningful conversations. He was a kind and generous soul, who in the end, continued to give with the Gift of Life Program.
Chris is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lisa Lyter; his mother, June Bricker (James) of Mifflintown; his father, Gary Lyter (Judy) of Hummelstown and brother Timothy Lyter (fiancé Jessie) of Appleton, WI. Along with his step siblings Timothy Rine (Chrissy) of New Cumberland, Kimberly Schwalje (Mike) of Willow Grove and Joshua Bricker (Lisa) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Loved by many aunts, cousins and other extended family.
A visitation and reception will be held Sunday, October 31 from 1 - 3 PM at the Perry County Council of the Arts, Landis House, 67 North 4th Street, Newport. Masks will be required indoors.
