Daniel F Flurie

On May 19, 2022, Daniel F. Flurie of Newport went home to be with God surrounded by his family. He was born August 4, 1947 to the late Julia Revel Flurie and Benjamin F. Flurie. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris Cramer Flurie and his two children Benjamin F. Flurie and companion Shirley of Millerstown and Teresa Flurie Miller and husband Dale of Millerstown. He is preceded in death by a son Richard L. Flurie and his wife Donna McGowan Flurie. Dan had 4 grandchildren whom he was very proud of- Erika Flurie, Kevin Bryner, Kimberly Bryner and Kaitlen Flurie as well as 7 great grandchildren.
Dan was employed by the Newport School District as a custodial engineer for over 35 years, where he was affectionately known by lots of children as Mr. Flurie. One of his greatest joys was playing Santa.
Dan was a member of Mt. Olivet Church of the Brethren. He was also a lifetime member of the Newport Social Order of Owls. He was an avid Port Royal Speedway fan where he could be found almost every Saturday night cheering on one of his favorite drivers, Lance Deweese.
