David R. Foy, 85 of Mechanicsburg, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joanne (Smith) Foy; daughters Jennifer Pegg (Howard), Susan Copening (Steve); son David Foy (Julie); seven grandchildren (Melissa, Michelina, Matthew, Joseph, Alissa, David, Johnathan) and thirteen great grandchildren (Tyler, Madison, Dylan, Aidan, Colin, Camden, Isabel, Aubrey, Lilyana, Olivia, Juliette, Parker and Evelyn). A US Army Veteran; served with both the 11th Airborne and 82nd Airborne Division. STRIKE HOLD
Dave was a member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, a Mason of the Eureka Lodge, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 82nd Airborne Division Association in addition to various social and civic clubs. He spent endless days and nights coaching Little League Midget Baseball at the Southeast League in Harrisburg. Dave retired from the United States Postal Office as a Logistics Manager after 42 years. He was able to reconnect with 82nd Airborne serving in various roles which led him to be elected National President of the 82nd Airborne Division Association fulfilling his two year term 1998 and 1999. Dave received many awards and commendations for his selfless acts volunteering with various organizations. Named All American of the Year in 2010 by the 82nd Airborne Division Association. He enjoyed life to the fullest, countless vacations at the beach and spending time in the woods at their cabin with family and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 29th at the Churchtown Church of God, 351 Old Stonehouse Rd., Boiling Springs with a viewing/visitation starting at 10 AM until the service begins at 12 PM. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 4855 Londonderry Rd., Harrisburg. Immediately following the burial, food and refreshments will be held at Lawton American Legion Post 998, 4700 Derry St., Harrisburg.
