David H Oren Obituary

 

David H. Oren, 85 years old, passed away Sunday August 21, 2022 at his home in Newport. He was born April 16, 1937 to Margaret E. (Carns) Oren and Earl F. Oren. He was a 1955 graduate of Newport High School.  David was a volunteer member of the Citizens Fire Co No. 1 for sixty six years and served as Chief of the fire department for 11 years.  He was a member of the former Market Street United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Newport Order of Owls.  David's interests included collecting Lionel Model Trains and he had a great interest and knowledge of Pa and Norfolk Southern Railroads and local history. He retired from the American Can Company with 35 years of service, but continued to work and keep busy as a driver for Perry County Transportation for another 13 years finally leaving the workforce at age 79.
  David is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bonnie  (Saylor) Oren; son Mark A Oren of Harrisburg; sister E. Suzanne Brugam (Richard) of Edwardsville, Illinois and her children Amy Brugam of Michigan, Matthew Brugam (Sara) Emilie and Ean of Illinois; sister-in-law Mary M Hetrick of Newport and brother-in-law William F Saylor (Linda) of Mechanicsburg and extended Carns Family and Saylor Families.
He was preceded in death by his son Brian David Oren, brother Roland E. Oren and nephew Michael Oren
Service will be held Saturday, August 27 at  the Newport Fire House with a viewing from 9 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Citizens Fire Co # 1,  301 Mulberry Street, Newport, PA 17074
