Deborah E (Lindenberger) Kline Obituary

Deborah Kline, formerly of Newport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning hours on Friday, February 14th, following a multi-year battle with cancer and other health issues.

Deb (or Grammy as she was affectionately known by her family) was born in Lewistown, PA in 1948 to Guy Richard and Evelyn Moyer Lindenberger.  She had two younger brothers, Dwight and Guy Richard II, who managed to keep her on her toes and provided no shortage of colorful anecdotes that were shared throughout the years in various family holiday and picnic gatherings.  She attended Mansfield University where she earned her degree in Education, devoting most of her professional years to teaching at the elementary school level and after school programs.

She married Michael Kline on July 24, 1971 and soon after welcomed two children into the world, Michelle and Jason, deciding to take a break from her teaching profession to devote herself to raising her children.  Her family moved to Newport in November 1985 where she spent the remaining 40 years of her life.

Deb was an active member in her local church, Hilltop Christian Church, participating in various ministries, including teaching children’s church and singing in the church choir.  She spent the bulk of her years enjoying time with her family and caring for her mother, setting a wonderful example of selfless devotion, love, and sacrifice and mirroring in many ways the qualities laid out in Proverbs 31.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband, brothers, and her mother who passed four months ago just shy of her 101st birthday.  She is survived by all of her children and grandchildren - Tim & Michelle Jordan with their two sons Alex and Connor, and Jason & Sarah Kline with their son Evan and daughters Emma and Gabbi.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, February 28th from 5 - 7PM at Hilltop Christian Church (721 Hillcrest Drive, Newport, PA).  A secondary viewing will be held Saturday morning, March 1st from 10 - 11AM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11AM, both at Hilltop Christian Church.  A short interment ceremony will take place later that afternoon in Spring Run Church of the Brethren in McVeytown, PA.
