Donald “Bing” Bingaman, 90, of Shermans Dale passed away peacefully surrounded by family
on the evening of Monday, September 23, 2024.
Don was born in 1934 in Sunbury, PA to Warren and Amy Bingaman. He was known for his kind
heart, unwavering faith, and dedication to his family and friends. You could always find Don
sharing a quiet laugh with his grandchildren or a friendly conversation with others.
As a child, he took pride in being both a Boy Scout and an Explorer Scout alongside his brother,
Fred. After graduating from Sunbury High School, he served in the U.S. Army for four years in
Kansas and West Germany before coming home to Sunbury. There he met and married Carol J.
Ervin and together raised two children, Bruce and Andrew, at their home near Shermans Dale.
He remarried Cathy L. Stouffer in 1987 following the death of his first wife in 1985.
Don took joy in his work as an auto body technician, mechanic, machinist, and most recently as
local delivery truck driver at the Sunoco fuel terminal in Mechanicsburg, retiring in 2000. Don
was an avid gardener and loved working on his own cars, his house, and his garage. He also
enjoyed traveling with his wife Cathy, and was fond of their trips to Deep Creek Lake, MD,
Canaan Valley, WV, and many others. Don remained actively involved in his church, Great
Hope Baptist Church of Carlisle throughout his adult life where he shared his faith and love of
Jesus with others.
Don is preceded in death by his first wife Carol, and his brothers Fred, Arland, Harry and Robert and  sisters Mary and Florence. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his sons, Bruce and his wife, Tracy, and Andy and his wife, Diane; his four grandchildren, Taylor, Cole, Carolyn, and Scarlett; and his sister, Jean Neidig and special sister-in-law Darlene Kline
A memorial service will be held on October 3, 2024 at  5:30 PM at Great Hope Baptist
Church, 110 Fern Ave., Carlisle, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be
made to Scouts BSA, New Birth of Freedom Council or Great Hope Baptist Church.
Don will be deeply missed but his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the
privilege to meet him.
