NEWPORT - Donald (Donny The Dawg) L. Kahl, 64, of Newport passed away unexpectedly
on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 in his Newport home.
Donny was born October 29, 1960 in Harrisburg, PA. to the late Donald N. Kahl and Irma
(Harter) Chiolo.
Donny was a retired commercial painter out of the Painters Local 411 and previously with
Taylor Park Apartments. After retirement, he kept himself busy with odd jobs in the area.
Donny was a proud member of the VFW Post 34 of Newport, The Newport Order of Owls,
the American Legion of Newport, VFW Post 7463 of New Bloomfield, the American Legion of
Renova, and the Hunters Valley Sportsman Association.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found joy in the great outdoors. A passionate DJ,
he loved bringing music to local events, creating unforgettable moments for his community.
He was deeply cherished by his friends and all who knew him.
Donny is survived by his longtime girlfriend Melinda Latchford of Newport; his son, Don-Paul
Kahl and his fiancé Karel Vlaeminck of Ghent, Belgium; his daughter, Sherri Kahl and her
fiancé Jason Andrews of Newport; Sarah Nosal and her husband Randy Nosal of Lebanon;
his brother, Jeffrey Kahl of Marysville; his niece, Amanda Fusco of Jersey City, NY; his
sister, Christy Zito of Mount Joy; his half-sister, Heather Trask of Brogue; his half-brother,
Randy Gebhart of Carlisle; his grandchildren Chase Kahl, Cassidy Eichelberger, Xavier
Lewis, Xander Nosal, Xadrian Nosal, and an expected grandchild on the way, Charles
Edward Andrews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in the David M. Myers
Funeral Home, 125 Walnut Street, Newport. Viewing will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Tuesday in
the David M. Myers Funeral Home, Newport. A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place
at the VFW Post 34, 505 N. 4th St, Newport following the service.
