She is survived by her older sisters Kathryn E. Crawford and Joyce J. Hess, and sisters-in-
law Eileen Trout of Newport, Esther Trout of Newport, and brother-in-law Donald P. Wingert.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald L., her parents William A. and Martha
M. (Baker) Trout, her younger brothers William H. Trout and Roy W. Trout, brother-in-law
John T. “Terry” Hetrick of New Bloomfield, and sisters-in-law Joan Wingert of Harrisburg,
and Linda L. Hetrick of New Bloomfield.
A graduate of Newport High School Class of 1958, she was active in school activities
including basketball, and proud to wear her blue corduroy FFA jacket. She rarely missed a
’58 Class Reunion, yearly picnic, or monthly breakfast gathering with classmates and
friends. She completed her academic studies at Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital School of
Nursing in Harrisburg, PA.
Doris devoted her life to her family and community. She was known for her gentle spirit,
devotion, and resilience. She enjoyed gatherings with family and lifelong friends from

school, and she cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren. Family gatherings and traditions were important to her, and she only missed

one Trout reunion in 85 years. Recall of events such as birthdays and anniversaries were

delightful topics of discussion, and her family knew she would be ‘spot on” with dates. As
she looked at the calendar or asked “Alexa, what day is it?” she would quietly remember
and comment what special day it was for an extended family member and share what
happy event happened on that date. She would have liked to have sent out more cards
than she did, and many made it out with help from her daughters in later years, so that the
person knew they were always remembered, and in her thoughts, regardless.
Doris was a woman of faith, carrying that faith into her daily life with kindness and quiet
strength. As a member of Incarnation UCC, she was part of the communion preparation
team. She was delighted to hear the church steeple bell rung, often by one of her kids. As
her health declined, she found comfort in watching church services online, staying
connected to her faith and community from home.
Her legacy is one of love, family and friendship—a life well-lived and deeply treasured by all
who knew her.
