Dorothy L. Baer, 82, passed into eternity to be with her Savior surrounded by her loving husband and family at West Shore Hospital on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 63 years, Kenneth E. Baer, Sr.; daughter, Teresa Martz of Harrisburg; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Jr. and Shelley Baer of Shermans Dale; grandchildren, Michael Shaffer, Rachel Baer and Victoria Delgado-Martz; brothers, William (Debby) of Senoia, GA and John (Cathy) of Elliottsburg; and sister, Doris Rowles of Enola; many nieces and nephews; and her cats, Daisy and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia Zeigler; brothers, Robert and Richard Zeigler; sister, Joyce Reisinger; and son-in-law, John Martz.
Dot was a dedicated and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She had a deep love for all children, babysitting as a teen and then operating a daycare in her home for approximately 40 years before retiring in 2003. She also enjoyed working in her flower beds, making chocolate chip cookies to give to family and friends, and volunteering at various
community fundraising events. She will be forever remembered for her strong faith; her sweet and abundant love for her family, friends and daycare children; her genuinely kind and humble spirit; her delicious macaroni and cheese recipe; and her absolute love of fresh strawberry shortcake.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dot’s life on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Shermans Dale Ambulance Association at 260 Richwine Road, Shermans Dale. There will be an hour of visitation at 10am. A service will begin at 11am, led by Pastor Kevin Brown, and a light luncheon will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dot’s memory can be sent to the Shermans Dale Fire Company at 5450 Spring Road or the Ambulance Association.
