Edward McKensie Obituary

“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered, “ Come to Me”.

Edward M. McKensie ,90, of Newport, passed peacefully Tuesday evening on April 4th, 2023. He was born June 29,1932 in Newport to Donald and Margaret (Wertz) McKensie.

After graduating from Newport High School, Ed joined the Marine Corps. He served proudly for four years during the Korean Conflict. He worked for The Pennsylvania Railroad as a pipe fitter while studying tool and die forging. After interning and working at Perry Tool, Ed and his brother Jim started there own business in Newport, McKensie Tool & Die Shop. They both worked together until there retirement. Later in his 70,s Ed worked part-time at the Perry County Prison as a guard.

Ed was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Newport. Often could find him working and helping at the church and always active in many church committees.

Active member of the Marine Corp League, Newport American Legion, Newport VFW, and Newport Social Order of the Owls.

Ed was so loved by his family and many friends. Always had a wonderful smile, twinkling blue eyes and laughter that would warm your soul. If anyone needed help, Ed was there to pitch in.

He loved the outdoors and hunting and always shared plenty of hunting stories with his hunting buddies and grandchildren that he loved hunting with.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy ( Shatto) McKensie and his brothers; William, Robert and James McKensie.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Victor DeCesaris, Millerstown, granddaughter , Haley Monahan, Millerstown, grandsons Kyle Monahan, Arlington, Va. and Kohl Monahan, Duncannon. Great grandchildren ; MacKenzie and Cayden Pelton.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 12,2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 320 Market Street, Newport with visitation from 10:30 am to 11:30am with service to start at 11:30am. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery with Military Honors by the Perry County Military Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 320 Market St., Newport, Pa 17074.
