Evelyn A (Benner) DeLancey

Evelyn A.. DeLancey, 87 years old, of Newport, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Transitions Allen's Cove, Duncannon. She was born May 11, 1937 in Oriental, PA to Arthur and Mary (Brown) Benner. She was of the Methodist Faith, was a seamstress in various local dress factories and past member of the Newport American Legion and Fire Company Auxiliaries and the  Millerstown Moose. She enjoyed spending time at the Newport Sr. Citizen Center, sitting on her porch on a warm sunny day waving to everyone that would drive by and toot their horn at her, her morning breakfast as part of the crew at Bitting's Restaurant, and playing bingo and doing crosswords. Her fondest joy was being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Evelyn was the widow of Edwin S. DeLancey Sr who passed away 12/21/2012 and is survived by her sons Edwin S. DeLancey Jr (Debra), Ricky L. DeLancey (Bobbi Jo),  Richard R. DeLancey and Robert A. DeLancey  of Newport; sister Joan Miller of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren Heather Kreitzer, Lacey Grodensky and Hannah Foreacre; step grandchildren Jennifer Walsh, David, Michael and Donald Jenkins III; great grandchildren Ethan Kreitzer, Elliott, Oliver and Adrian Grodensky and Kamryn and Nick Foreacre; step great grandchildren Annika Jenkins and Michael and Alex Walsh. She was also preceded in death by grandson Jason DeLancey who passed away 3/30/1999;  brothers Arthur, Harry, Larry and Norman Benner and sisters Margaret Walton and Judy Dunn.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 16 at the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing from 11AM until the service at 12 PM with the Reverend Cheryl Dorman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Newport Ambulance League, 50 S. Third St. Newport, PA 17074.
