Gary L. Mitchell, 81, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. He is
survived by his wife Linda, his stepson David McNaughton of San Diego, and extended family
and friends. He served honorably in the Navy on assignments to the Caribbean during the
Cuban Missile Crisis and the Dominican Civil War including service on the USS Boxer. Gary
was also a devout Quaker and a pacifist. Later, he dedicated his service to Keystone Support
Services, the Veterans Administration, and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. He was a
Union Steward for SEIU.
Gary cared for all life including plants and animals, domestic and wild. He was a polio survivor
who never slowed down. He was a loving husband and father who never put himself first or
turned away from anyone in need. He will be missed.
