George H. Smith, 84, of New Bloomfield, PA, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2025.
Born on September 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Mutzabaugh) and Kenneth Smith.

George was a 1959 graduate of Perry Joint High School and proudly served his country
in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
A self-employed contractor by trade, George also dedicated himself to public service as the former mayor of New Bloomfield and a former supervisor of Centre Township. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. George was a proud member of American Legion Post 177 in Newport and VFW Post 7463 in New Bloomfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Zellers Smith; his son, Jaret C.S. Smith (Shannon); and three grandchildren—Hayley R. Smith, Alayna M. Smith, and Aaron G. Smith—all of New Bloomfield. He is also survived by five sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Landisburg Fire House, located at 301 E. Faculty Ave., Landisburg, PA 17040. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Bloomfield Fire Company or the Landisburg Fire Company.
