Geraldine Elizabeth Troutman Good (“Gerry”), 78, of the Ecumenical Retirement Community,
Harrisburg, and formerly of Leesburg, FL, East Salem, and Newport, passed away September 4, 2022 at
Holy Spirit Hospital following a stroke days earlier. She was born May 28, 1944 in Newport to Wilbert A.
and Elsie P. Brookhart Troutman. Gerry worked at Schlegel’s Store in East Salem in the 70s/80s and
retired from the PA Dept. of Revenue in 1997.
Gerry was the widow of Donald N. Good, with whom she enjoyed 30 years of marriage, and is survived
by her son David Michael Troutman and wife Tracy of Harrisburg, daughters Tina M. Sellers Wareham
and husband Andrew of Wasilla, Alaska, and Jennifer E. Sellers Dodge and husband David of Etters;
sisters Peggy Carl and husband Charlie of Newport and Lois Allwein and husband Michael of Gettysburg;
brothers James Troutman and wife Lori of Herndon, VA and Kenneth Troutman of North Carolina; many
cherished nieces and nephews; and treasured friends at Ecumenical, including those of her Breakfast
Club. She was preceded in death by sisters Susan Laverty and Marjorie Troutman, and by recent
beloved companion, Richard.
With keen curiosity, Gerry enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, and researching any topic that caught her
interest. Music and singing brought her joy, and she could play the piano by ear, never having had a
lesson. She was a bingo champion and had an uncanny ability to win games of dominoes. A fabulous
cook, she was renowned for her potpie and for sending friends and family home with leftovers. Gerry
enjoyed loving, attentive relationships with her three children, her pride and joy. One of her greatest
gifts was to raise them as part of her large, fun-loving Troutman family. She was fierce, spirited, and
never afraid to explore the world or question authority. Generous, thrifty, and equipped with a quick-
witted sense of humor, she will be well remembered and sorely missed.
Services will be held Friday, Sept. 9 from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with visitation from
10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Allwein officiating. Burial will follow in
the Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The
