Gladys (Betsy) Howell Maxwell, 79, of Newport, went to fly with her husband on May 25, 2024. 

  Her passing is preceded by her husband David Maxwell along with her parents, John and Nora Howell, her four brothers, Roger, Bob, Bud, and Blair Howell, her two sisters, Betty Noll and Lillian Ibaugh, and granddaughter Shannon Baker. 

 Gladys (Betsy) was very loved and adored by anybody who came into her life. She enjoyed having cookouts, sitting around outside talking with family, and loved to watch her great-grandchildren (Serenity, Rayne, and Wynter) play. She also enjoyed bird watching and listening to the mockingbirds in the mornings with her son-in-law. Gladys (Betsy) was always telling stories about her and her husband out in nature either fishing or out at camp. She always had a way of making people laugh. 

Gladys (Betsy) leaves behind the following to carry on her memories: sister Anna Shull; daughter Renee Baker and husband Lewis Baker, of New Bloomfield, grandchildren Ashley Horanic, and Stephen Baker, and great grandchildren Rayne and Wynter Horanic; son David Maxwell and wife Laura Maxwell of New Bloomfield, grandchildren Anette, Andrew, and Adam Sheriff; son Roger Maxwell of Newport, and grandchildren Jessica, Travis, and Destiny Maxwell, and five great grandchildren; great granddaughter Serenity. 

Graveside service will be held on June 23, 2024, 2 pm  at the Newport Cemetery.
