Grover A Haines Obituary

Grover A. Haines, 83, of Duncannon, went to be with his Lord on Thursday,
September 19 th . He was born April 14 th , 1941 in Newport to Lewis S. and Dollie I.
(Murphy) Haines.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Evans) Haines, his daughter Laura
and son-in-law William Toth, and one grandson, Seth L. Toth, with whom he
shared a love for country music. Also surviving are three brothers, Carl, Lenus,
and Donald and one sister, Vera (Asper). Too numerous to list are the much-
loved nieces, nephews, and additional family members that make up the Haines
family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by five brothers, Ralph, Stanley, Harry,
Ray, and Marlin, and two sisters, Mildred (Dobyns) and Faye (Fry).
Grover graduated from Newport High School in 1959. His love for driving led to
Grover becoming an ambulance driver in 1963, making him a life member of the
Newport Ambulance League. He attended truck driving school and worked for
several trucking companies until he finished his career with Lasco Industries
where he achieved one million accident-free miles. Upon retirement, he took a
part-time job with Enterprise where he could continue his love of driving vehicles.
He was a life-long member of the Newport First Church of God where he held
several positions over his life.
He loved attending sporting events to watch his grandson and was well known for
yelling “Hip Hip Hooray.”
Services will be held on September 28 th at the Newport First Church of God, located at 334
South Fifth Street, Newport, PA with visitation from 10 AM until the memorial service at 11 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Newport First Church of God or Newport Ambulance League, located at 50 South 3 rd Street, Newport, PA.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
