H Gilbert Rinehart Obituary

H. Gilbert “Gil” Rinehart, 80, of Levittown, PA, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023, surrounded by his family. Gil was born and raised in Newport, PA, the son of Willard and Helen (Campbell) Rinehart. Gil was the loving husband of Chris for 23 years.

After graduating from Elizabethtown College in 1964, Gil was a social worker and also served in the U.S. Army. Gil went on to work in the medical sales field for many years, until his retirement in 2018. Gil was a diehard fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. He was a baseball umpire for over 10 years, and also enjoyed playing tennis, shooting trap at the Fairless Gun Club, and especially the company and antics of his constant canine companion, Willow. Most of all, Gil had no greater joy than being “there” for his family and friends; he was the most incredibly supportive husband, father, and “Poppy”

In addition to his wife, Gil is survived by his son, Dave, his daughter, Kim, and his stepson, Andy, their spouses, and his grandchildren, Zach and Lexi, as well as his extended family.  He was preceded in death by his “sister”, Lynn McNitt

A private service for Gil will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Gil’s memory to the SPCA Animal Rescue, or another charity of your choice.
