Harry E. Simonton Jr. (Woody), of New Bloomfield, passed away on October 1, 2023 at Artis Memory Care in Lemoyne after struggling with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). He was the husband of Jane Cameron Simonton, son of the late Harry and Virginia (Shreffler) Simonton, the father of Maggie (Stephen) Sperry and Sarah (Eric) Parrish, brother to Zorann (David) Johnson, Pop Pop to Landon McKee, Julia and Eva Sperry and Olivia, Erica and Aleah Parrish, and Uncle Woody to many nieces and nephews.
He was a 1968 graduate of West Perry High School where he participated in track, soccer, and basketball. After graduation, he enrolled at Lincoln Technical School and graduated with a degree in auto mechanics. He spent his working career at L.B. Smith, Ford. He had a love for running and helped to form the Perry County Road Runners Club. He was proud to say he completed the Boston Marathon several times. He also enjoyed boating and jet skiing at Raystown Lake and riding his Harley. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg and the New Bloomfield Fire Company and enjoyed being in charge of bingo at the firemen's carnival.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
