Hazel M. (Sheaffer) Fleisher, 92 years old, of Newport, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. She was born October 24, 1931 at the home of her Grandmother in Milford Township, Juniata County to Norman C. and Hazel B. (Fike) Sheaffer. The family moved to Westmoreland County and then back to Tuscarora where she started school. The family then moved to the Wilson Farm and Hazel attended school at Red Bank in Licking Creek. The family moved to Perry County in 1942 to her Father's home. Hazel graduated from New Bloomfield High School in 1948.

 Following graduation, she worked at the former J.J. Newberry Company, Snap on Tool, and Weis Markets in Newport. Hazel married Lester Fleisher on December 24, 1950. After her marriage, she was a farm wife helping to milk cows on the family farm. She enjoyed crocheting, flowers, traveling to visit Art and Alta Mae Todd in Illinois, mowing grass and the British Royal Family.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester on  July 25, 2010, as well as their son Brian Fleisher, daughter Vickie Fleisher-Gann, son-in-law William Gann and brother Clarence Sheaffer. She is survived by daughter, Brenda Cox and husband Wayne of Middletown, daughter-in-law Amy Fleisher of Newport and grandchildren Jessica and Evan Fleisher.

She was a member of the former Wila United Methodist Church and Life Member of the Newport Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, 301 Mulberry Street, Newport, PA 17074

 Services will be held Thursday, May 23 from the David Myers Funeral Home with a viewing from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Hazel are requested to the Newport Fire Company Auxiliary, 301 Mulberry Street, Newport, PA 17074
