Hazel M Lawrence

Hazel M. Lawrence, 83 years old, passed away peacefully at home in Newport  with her loving family by her side Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She was born March 20, 1943  to Harley Lawrence and  Myrtle Felton. She was originally from Harrisburg where she was a city crossing guard, the block watch captain at 13th and Derry Streets and did voting poll watching. She was a very  active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints- Harrisburg Ward and enjoyed hanging out at Strawberry Square. She loved helping others and doing errands for people.Her favorite things were playing bingo, singing, dancing  helping at her church. Her family was the most important part of her life. She was strong believer in Jesus Christ.

  Hazel is survived by her son James A Berkey of Newport and his three children, daughters Anna Marie Berkey of Newport, formerly of York and her children Daniel and Kaitlyn (fiance Brent Merrifield) and Tina Wheeler of  Dushore, PA and her three children;  nephew William Wolfe and his daughter Lisa Andujar of New Cumberland and her children Lisabella, Devon and Dante,  one great grandson, and adopted nephew Bob Mixell Sr of New Bloomfield. She was preceded in death by brother William Felton of Towanda,PA and sister Irene Stepp.of Harrisburg.
