Jonathan Bruce Miller, Jr. of New Bloomfield, ended his earthly journey, December 9, 2024 as a resident of Transitions Care. He was born August 11, 1929 in Lewistown to J. Bruce Miller, Sr. and Olive J. Miller.

He graduated from New Bloomfield High School where he played football and basketball and met his future wife, Sara Gantt. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served much of his naval career in the Washington, D.C. area.

Bruce and his high school sweetheart, Sara Gantt, were married for 73 years. He was a carpenter and later worked at Carson Long Military Academy as a maintenance man.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Masons, and served on the New Bloomfield Cemetery Board. Bruce enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and spending time with family. He loved his cat and dog.

Bruce is survived by his children, Margaret Ann (Mike) Thomas of South Carolina, Mary Lee (Charlie) Groff of New Bloomfield and Nelson Miller of Carlisle; grandchildren, Deanna Thomas (David Castro), Jason Elliott, Jennifer (Doug) Weaver, Sara (Mike) Roberto, Hannah (Jacob) Cotton, and Jessie Runk; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Brothers, David (Marjory) Miller and William (Gloria) Miller; sisters Martha Miller, Susan Arrowsmith and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sara, sister Olive Hoffman and brothers Thomas and Charles Miller.

A future joint memorial service for Bruce and Sara Miller will be held at the convenience of the family.
