John H ("Mitter") Dietz Obituary

John H. Dietz, 96 years old, of Harrisburg, passed away December 2, 2024. He was born December 3, 1927 in Newport to Amil and Hazel (Campbell) Dietz. He was a graduate of Newport High School and retired  from the US Navy after 20 years of service and then from Penn National Insurance. He was a member of the Newport VFW Post 34, Newport American Legion Post 177, Newport Social Order of Owls, Destroyer Escort Asso., US Navy Memorial, US Navy Cruiser Sailors Asso., Military Officers Asso. of America, Pearl Harbor Lodge and Masonic Temple.


John was the widower  of  Ada (Stahl) Dietz is survived by his son Jeffrey Dietz and wife Andrea; daughter-in-law Leslie Dietz; sister Patricia Mann;  grandchildren Bret and wife Kelley, Derek, Michael,  and Nicole and husband Kendrick; and great grandchildren Madeline, Sophia  and Krue. He was preceded in death by son John Dietz; brothers Robert and William Dietz; sister Peggy Trimmer and grandson Jason Dietz.


Family is grateful for care received at the Townes of Capital Village and Capital Rehabilitation.


 Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
