John D Swartz

John D. Swartz 76 of Millerstown passed peacefully at home with family by his side on Tuesday October 24, 2023. Born February 25th 1947 to John Robert and Eleanor Losch Swartz Hine. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Judith Sholes Swartz. Sons John Mark Swartz wife Natasha Zahorian and Grandson John Mark Swartz Jr. of Seven Stars Pa and Adam Leroy Swartz wife Dawn Swartz with Grandson J.T. Snyder and Addisyn Swartz of Shady Side Md.
His family knew him as Dad, Pop-Pop, Grandpa, Brother, Cousin and by his friends as "Pop's", Jack or just John.
He spent 25 years as a House Parent, Scout Master and sports coach at Milton Hershey School. Upon retirement he spent 21 years working at Fastenal Co. where customers and co-workers alike affectionately called him "Pop's". John was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Duncannon and a member of Masonic Lodge 197 of Lebanon Pa.
Like many of the men in his family he served in the United States Military as a Civil Engineer in the United State Air Force. He enjoyed vacations, boating, fishing and hunting with his family. Other hobbies included golf and wood carving. He loved gospel music especially singing in church and publicly for others.
Interment will be held at 9:30 am November 3rd at  Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. At 2 pm a Memorial Service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church, 11 Church Road Newport Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of John are requested to Christ Lutheran Church, 115 Church Street, Duncannon, PA. 17020.
