Joseph C Mastracchio Obituary

Joseph "Joe" C. Mastracchio, 74, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 31, 2025. Joe was born July 24, 1950 in Sayre, Pennsylvania to the late Michael and Emma (Soprano) Mastracchio.
Joe attended Epiphany Elementary School in Sayre and then graduated from Sayre Area High School in 1968.  While in high school he was a part of the 1967 undefeated football team, which then led him to play football at Mansfield University. In 1971, he enlisted in the United States Army where he played football in Okinawa (which he loved talking about). In 1974 he was honorably discharged from active duty and released from the Army Reserves in 1977.
In 1975, Joe started working for Loram, a railroad maintenance and equipment supplier, which became his passion. His career there took him to Minnesota where he started a family and was able to travel the world while working for Loram. His duties took him to Australia, Brazil & China to name a few. He began his tenure as a laborer and worked his way to the top of the corporation where he was tasked with implementing and expanding business relationships all over the world as an executive. In between all of that, he found time to coach his son Ryan's football team for 5 years.
After 32 years of service at Loram, he retired and moved to Newport, PA where he managed his brother's restaurant until his second retirement in 2023.
Joe had a love of anything that kept him active and allowed him to have a good time. He was interested in anything involving trains thanks to his work at Loram,  and he was into other machinery like IndyCar racing and motorcycles. He even took a boating class so he could go sailing. He loved the cold months in Minnesota where he would go skiing with his family. He kept up with softball, working out and especially weightlifting. He even took to bowling and was on a league. Golfing was a special love to him. He had multiple golf bags and even had luggage to take his golf clubs wherever he went.
Joe is survived by his son Nicholas Mastracchio of Plymouth, MN; daughter Sabrina (Travis) Franz of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren Michael and Bella Mastracchio, Aidriana Devito, Easton and Bo Franz, and Dominic Mastracchio; sisters Maria Mastracchio and Gloria Calveric of Sayre, PA; Mickey (Marge Krah) Mastracchio of Wildwood, NJ; Ann Drury of Newport, PA; and sister-in-law Brenda Mastracchio of Newport, PA; brother Louis (Doraine "Squeak") of Newport, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son Ryan Mastracchio; brother Michael A. Mastracchio; brother-in-law John Calveric; and brother-in-law David Drury.
