Kathy Bingaman Obituary

On Friday, November 12, 2021, Kathy R. (Campbell) Bingaman, loving wife and mother of three, passed away at age 72, in her home.

Kathy was born on April 15, 1949 in Lewistown to the late Ray and Audrey (Smith) Campbell. She graduated from Newport High School in 1967 and worked at Chapman’s store while in high school.  She later became a certified nursing assistant and worked at Perry Village for more than 20 years.

Her hobbies included painting, antiquing, going to yard sales, and baking. She loved to have her grandchildren decorate her baked goods. Because of her kind and compassionate spirit, Kathy was known for giving: giving of herself, giving of her time, and giving of gifts. Even if an unexpected guest was brought to a holiday exchange, the guest never went away empty-handed.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harry; her two daughters, Audra Schwaller (Shannon) and Amy Shomper (Tim); her three grandchildren, Tyler, Kylie, and Camryn Shomper; brothers David Campbell of Millerstown and Ray Campbell of Pittsburgh; and sister Joanne Jole of Crestview, Florida. She was preceded in death by her infant son and her brothers Richard and John Campbell.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Highland Presbyterian Church, Newport, PA at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Homeland Hospice, Attn: Myra Badorf, Asst. Director of Development, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Ronald McDonald House Chapter of Central PA, Inc., 745 West Governor Road, Hershey, PA 17033-2304.
